Large Language Models can summarize, draft, classify, and explain. But in their raw form, they are not designed to deliver the precision, traceability, and deterministic grounding required in banking workflows. In regulated environments, trust cannot depend on the model “figuring it out” from language alone. The model must operate on governed contextual data, where facts, relationships, calculations, and evidence can be retrieved, traversed, reproduced, and inspected.

In financial crime, fraud, compliance, KYC, sanctions, and risk operations, a hallucination is not a minor inconvenience. It can distort an investigation, misinterpret a regulation, misrepresent customer or market data, or create an output that cannot be defended during audit or regulatory review.
