We are looking for an experienced Senior Performance Engineer to join our Product Engineering Team.


As a Senior Performance Engineer at DataWalk, you will be ensuring our platform delivers optimal performance at massive scale for clients such as Morgan Stanley, Rabobank, Ally Financial and other major organizations processing hundreds of billions of objects and terabytes to petabytes of data. This role demands extraordinary analytical and technical expertise to proactively discover optimal system configurations, design and maintain complex performance test scenarios, tune infrastructure and application layers, and manage test environments on Kubernetes. You will maintain CI/CD pipelines powering our performance testing process and drive the adoption of AI-assisted scripting practices to elevate our testing productivity. Responsibilities: 

  • Lead investigations of performance issues from customer projects - from symptom to root cause to fix recommendation. spanning database configuration, query plans, application code, and Kubernetes deployment.
  • Diagnose and tune the database layer: query plans, projections, resource pools, segmentation, compression, storage.
  • Diagnose and tune the JVM and application layer: profiling, garbage collection, memory.
  • Audit and tune Kubernetes deployments: resource sizing, autoscaling, scheduling on OKE/EKS.
  • Design, develop, and maintain complex performance test scenarios for a BigData platform processing hundreds of billions of objects at terabyte-to-petabyte scale.
  • Build and maintain Performance Guidelines, sizing docs, and troubleshooting playbooks for Field Engineering.
  • Maintain CI/CD performance pipelines (Jenkins, Groovy) and integrate automated regression detection.
  • Partner with development teams on design reviews - flag scalability risks early.

 

Requirements:

  • Have 5+ years of experience in, performance engineering, performance test engineering, or SRE (preferably in a product company or start-up).
  • Have hands-on experience designing and maintaining complex performance test scenarios - we use them to design scalability experiments and hunt for system limits.
  • Have experience with Jenkins/Groovy pipelines, including building and maintenance.
  • Are comfortable in Kubernetes - running tests and tuning it (debugging, resource management, deployment concepts).
  • Understand JVM performance - profiling, GC tuning, memory analysis (DataWalk is Java-heavy).
  • Know your way around an observability stack - Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry.
  • Have practical experience in utilizing AI tools to automate and accelerate your work.
  • Think in terms of distributed systems - concurrency, contention, backpressure.
  • Are a problem solver with strong analytical skills, open to learn new things quickly.
  • Have the ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive improvements proactively.
  • Native in Polish, and proficient in English.
