Because DataWalk® is an alternative to Palantir’s Gotham® product, we are frequently asked how DataWalk compares to Palantir’s pricing.
The only specific data we have for Palantir pricing is what has made its way on to the Internet. In particular, we have access to published U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) pricing for the U.S. federal government (see details below), as well as for industry services such as Crozdesk. These sources indicate the following information for Palantir pricing:
Note that GSA prices are generally intended to represent “best available” Palantir pricing, so actual pricing may be higher for customers outside the U.S. federal government.
DataWalk also offers the option to license software on a per-core basis, and is also available on the GSA schedule. This enables an “apples-to-apples” comparison relative to Palantir pricing. DataWalk GSA pricing is $35K per core, which as of April 2021, is 75% less than the GSA per-core pricing of Palantir® Gotham.
In addition to Gotham software licenses priced at 4x the cost of DataWalk, press articles have suggested that there are other significant costs associated with Palantir’s overall cost of ownership. For example, a 2018 Bloomberg article reported that “Palantir’s high installation and maintenance costs repelled customers such as Hershey Co., which trumpeted a Palantir partnership in 2015 only to walk away two years later.”*
